2007.04.29  April update

Well, I haven't been as regular at this blogging thing as I'd hoped...  I will try to put in a better showing in this,
our last month in Paris.  We will be going back to Toronto a month earlier than originally planned.  My research
and thesis-writing has gone quicker than expected.  I really didn't have course obligations here so with Rod
gone all day working (he got way more hours than expected at his teaching gig), I had plenty of time to hit
most of the major libraries in Paris in search of little gems to put into my novel.  So far I have worked at the
Bibliotheque de la Sorbonne, the Bibliotheque Mazarine, the Bibliotheque Administrative de la Ville de Paris
and the Archives de l'Assistance Publique-Hopitaux de Paris.  This week I came across a document detailing
how the Filles du roi were transported from the General Hospital to the port in Rouen in 1670.

Anyway, other than my MA work, we have been soaking up Paris!  Rod finished up with his job on Friday so
he's now a free bird.  The weather for the past few weeks has been incredible -- hot and sunny.  We've been
walking all over the place connecting the dots of our knowledge of the city.  We have walked from our residence
to St. Michel/Notre-Dame, the Latin Quarter.  We discovered Bercy Village last weekend, a neighbourhood
that feels a lot like the Distillery District in Toronto.  Yesterday we saw for the first time the Tuileries Garden at
the Louvre.

Last weekend we picked Joannes up from the airport and, along with his family, we welcomed him to Paris.
Next Thursday we're all going to Prague for five days on a bus from the MEC.  We'll be staying in hostel-like
accommodations and the bus ride is fourteen hours long, but I have heard that Prague is a stunning city so
I'm sure it will be worth it.

Bonsoir de Paris and sweet dreams wherever you are .....
