When we began this website, I debated on whether or not to include my poetry, shorts, and other fictional imaginings.  After all, don’t people usually SELL this stuff?  But ever since the days of elementary school chocolate almonds, I realized that I was not a salesperson.  “Please mom, ask my aunts and uncles to (dutifully) buy at least a few boxes, or my teacher will be so mad.”  Unfortunately, my mom wasn’t any better at turning said finished product into cold cash.  I usually ended up sinking 5-6 bucks of my allowance money into the envelope.  Marathons were the worst; not only am I a deplorable athlete, but I was expected to ask people to pay me to arduously chug around the track…

Anyway, all that to say that here I am again, giving away a sweet product completely free of charge ;)  I hope you enjoy these tidbits from my summer collection.  A few poems about distressing Japanese weather (tsuyu, taifu), one from NYC’s metro (the R local), and a love story dreamt up on the Via train to Ottawa (Stopover)…

See, I just figure that if we all gave everything away for free, nobody would have to take on the horrible job of being a salesperson.  ;)
